The concept of Woman is one I have revisited many times throughout my career.

This body of work draws inspiration from the curved forms found in Picasso’s compositions and the vivid, spiritual palette of Hilma af Klint — particularly The Swan, No. 17. Through abstraction, I explore the union of opposites: strength and vulnerability, visibility and silence, individuality and collectiveness.

At its core, the work reflects my own experience as a woman and mother navigating the complexities of identity and expectation. Society often frames femininity as a performance — a costume to be worn — yet beneath that surface lie quiet narratives of unacknowledged pain, love, and resilience.

These hidden stories, whispered and endured behind the scenes, form a collective truth. Over time, I have come to see them not as burdens, but as honours — threads of authenticity that shape who we are. Together, these fragments of experience become a portrait of womanhood: imperfect, layered, and profoundly beautiful.

Oil on canvas, varnished and set within a white tray frame with a 2 cm gap between canvas and frame.

Dimensions:

50.8 × 39.4 × 2 cm - Unframed

56.8 × 45.4 × 3 cm - Framed
